Q: Does the Learning System incorporate any games?
A: No. Combining voice narration,
text, and images, the Learning System is for serious education.
Any words which students should pay close attention to are
high-lighted and clickable. Once clicked, you will be brought
instantly to the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of the
keyword. You will notice that some words have a different color;
this is because Barron’s Encyclopedia is also included and
one-click away, for further understanding of the subject.
Q: Does the Learning System have tests?
A: Yes. Each subject comes with a
set of quizzes. If a student has selected a wrong answer, an
explanation is provided which helps the student understand the
question better. For tests such as with our Math subjects, you
will have mostly printable test sheets to practice hands-on
problem solving. The answers are provided with an additional
printable test sheet.
Q: How can progress be monitored by parents, guardians, or
teachers?
A: Parents, guardians, or teachers,
can open up the progress report where each subject will show
whether or not the subject has been finished, and if the tests
have been taken. Quiz scores are all listed, and this area can
be used as a guide to determine which subject the student needs
further study in.
Q: I would like to have hands-on teaching in Math with my
child or student. Does the Learning System do that?
A: The teaching methods for Math
will change depending on the grade level. For elementary grades
where parental participation is encouraged, there are more
animated teaching methods along with narration. For upper grade
levels, more hands-on problem solving through videos and
printable test sheets are included, so that students can follow
exactly how the math problems are solved..
Q: What is the education level of each subject?
A: Each subject is to the standards
and is equivalent to what is being taught in school. The
Learning System is intended to act as an accessory tool
alongside school curriculum, and is not meant to replace school
curriculum. You can adjust the speed of your students learning
experience at your student’s own pace.
Q: How many subjects are covered?
A: Each package comes with about
100 subjects, and each subject will take an hour or so for the
student to go through and finish. Because DVD-ROM’s can hold 10
to 20 times more contents than a CD-ROM, your Learning System
discs are on DVD-ROM. Meaning, instead of 100 discs, you are
receiving 2 to 3 for a smoother transition in changing subjects
at your computer.
Q: I am not sure if I can use a DVD-ROM with my computer.
A: A quick way to find out if you
have a DVD drive (as you do require a DVD drive to use this
product.) is to put the disc in and see if it starts up. If you
have a CD-ROM drive, a DVD-ROM cannot be read. A DVD drive is
about $30 at any local computer or electronic store.
Q: Is the Learning System compatible with Vista? How about
the latest Mac OSX?
A: The Learning Systems are updated
every year. They run on Vista and the latest MAC OSX. The
Learning Systems also provide contents for iPod, and with your
iPod viewer, not only can you learn more about your subjects,
you can also take quizzes for each subject anytime, anywhere. |
